IT Tips to Help You Get Ready for Summer

If you’re taking your computer on vacation or checking work on your phone while you’re away, here are some tips to help you prepare ahead of time and to help you stay safe while on vacation.

✔️ Back up all important files and systems

✔️ Install software updates

✔️ Enable device encryption

✔️ Set strong passwords and MFA

✔️ Enable remote wipe/tracking for mobile devices

✔️ Always use your company’s approved VPN when using internal tools or systems outside the office

✔️ Don’t trust networks just because they look familiar. Attackers can easily spoof network names like “Hotel Wi-Fi” or “Starbucks Guest.”

✔️ Review and revoke unnecessary user access

✔️ Disable remote desktop unless absolutely necessary

✔️ Set a secure and not too verbose out-of-office response

✔️ Turn off auto-replies to unknown senders

✔️ Educate your team about phishing risks during the holidays

✔️ Limit information about your absence on social media

✔️ Make sure your antivirus and firewall are active
